Privacy
Saint Lucia Homes is a property index, not an agency. We publish facts about property that are already public, and we collect as little about you as the site can work with. This notice is written with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 in mind, because the site is operated from the United Kingdom; if you are in Saint Lucia or elsewhere, the same protections apply.
Who we are
Saint Lucia Homes (the "index") is operated from the United Kingdom. For data-protection purposes the operator is the controller. Contact: privacy@saintluciahomes.com.
What we collect, and why
- Brief form (Prime)
- Name, email address, budget band, preferred area and the free-text brief you write. Used to route your brief to the agency or owner best placed to answer it, and to reply to you. Lawful basis: your request before entering a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in operating a referral service (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Interest forms (Rent, Stay)
- Name, email, organisation and the message you write. Used to contact you when the service launches and to build the rentals and stays indexes with your cooperation. Lawful basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
- Corrections email
- Whatever you send to data@saintluciahomes.com. Used to correct the index. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in an accurate public dataset.
- Lead forms ("Ask about this home", area updates, price alerts, corrections)
- Your email, optional name and message, the page you were on and the listing or area it concerned. Handled by a serverless function in our own Cloudflare account, emailed to us and kept as a backup row for 400 days, then deleted automatically. Your IP address is not stored; a one-hour, salted hash of it limits abuse. If the listing has been claimed by its agency, your enquiry is also sent to that agency's contact address. Lawful basis: your request (Art. 6(1)(b)) and consent for alerts (Art. 6(1)(a)).
- Listing claims
- When an agency claims a listing we record the claimant's name, work email, the listing and property ids, the agency domain, the date, and whether a photo licence was granted. Published on the site: the agency name and domain and the verification date; never the contact's name or email.
- Analytics
- We use GoatCounter, an open-source, privacy-first counter: page views and referrers only, no cookies, no fingerprinting, no personal data, so no consent banner is needed. It does not run until enabled in the site configuration.
- Server logs
- The static host records the IP address, page requested, referrer and browser string for each request, as every web server does. We do not use advertising pixels or cookies. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in security and capacity.
Forms include a hidden field that only automated submissions fill in; a filled field causes the submission to be discarded. If the form endpoint is not configured, the form opens your own email client instead and nothing is sent to us until you press send there.
Who we share it with
A Prime brief is forwarded, with your name and email, to the agency or owner we judge best placed to answer it; we tell you who that was. Forms may be processed by a form-handling provider acting on our instructions. The static host processes server logs. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising. Data may be transferred outside the UK (for example to Saint Lucia, where agencies are) only to the extent needed to answer your request.
How long we keep it
- Briefs
- 24 months after the last contact, so we can honour a referral agreement if a purchase completes; then deleted.
- Interest registrations
- Until the service launches and you have been contacted, or until you withdraw consent; at most 24 months.
- Correction emails
- 12 months.
- Server logs
- As set by the host, typically 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict our processing, withdraw consent, and ask for your data in a portable form. Email privacy@saintluciahomes.com; we answer within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) in the UK.
Listings data
The index records facts about properties offered for sale by agencies and developers on their public websites: price, size, bedrooms, district, source URL and capture date. It does not record the names or contact details of private sellers, and it reproduces no listing text or photographs. If you believe a record identifies you and should not, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
We will date each revision of this page. Material changes will be announced on the home page for one month.
